happy thanksgiving!

hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving!

i was so excited to have a few days off work and we were able to go home to st. louis to spend time with family and friends. it was a much needed break and i can't wait to do it all over again for christmas!

we were able to do alot in the few days that we were at home: saw tommy's band (the marquette weekend) play once again, ate 3 thanksgiving meals, got up at 4 in the morning to christmas shop on black friday, did a boot camp with my mom and sister (to work off all of the thanksgiving food! lol!), had a get together with a bunch of old highschool friends, whew...i'm exhausted just thinking about it again. lol! it was worth it though i'll be making up for it the next few days!
here are a few pics from our trip below.

Happy Halloween!

Last night we walked down a particularly spooky street close to where we live called Hillcrest Ave. Most of the houses on that street decorate with a different Halloween theme. Here are some pictures I took:
Creepy huh?

apples everywhere!

Apples, apples, apples! All day on Sunday I stayed busy making apple butter and canning it. It actually wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. First you take the apples:
Peel, slice, core:
In a large pot add apples with cider, sugar, cinnamon, and some other spices: Simmer for several hours, until it looks like this: The canning process was the hardest part, but well worth it:I've also made apple bread, which I highly reccommend! It's soooo good! I've already made 7 loaves. Don't worry, we're not eating all of them....I'm sharing with people at my work.
Right now the last batch of apple bread is in the oven...my apt. smells so yummy! Oh, and I still have MORE apples...I guess next it'll be apple crisp, or apple pie....apples, apples, apples!

Fall Fun!

Drove over to Indiana yesterday afternoon and visited Huber's Orchard.

We took a hayride out to the pumpkin patch and picked our own pumpkins:

We also bought a huge bag of apples....and some apple cider....I'm planning on making some apple butter soon...so more to come on that (if it turns out! lol!).

Lacrosse

My brother Skyler plays lacrosse for his school and I was able to go to one of his practice games while we were at home last week. I took a couple pics, Skyler is in the red shorts:I've never played lacrosse and it looks like a really rough sport, but I'd like to learn the rules for future reference. Anyone out there have any insight?

Cute or Not?

For some reason (not really sure why) I've been wanting to learn how to cross stitch. While rummaging through the sale isle recently at Michael's I found this kit:
I got it for real cheap and was excited to start my new project (one of dozens that I've already started and haven't completed! haha!). Here's what it looked like in the beginning:In progress: And here's what it looks like now:
Not completely done, but it's coming along very nicely. It's actually way easier than I expected and I think it's really cute...but maybe I'm old-fashioned!

So here's the question: Cross stitch, hot or not?
